Arthur Coates & Kerran Cotterell are a two-man trad tornado tearing through the folk world with fiddle, guitar, foot percussion, vocals, and groove to spare. Mixing Scottish and English roots with modern flair, they deliver foot-stomping tunes, rich harmonies, and cheek and charm.
Whether in a village hall like Forglen or a festival field like the many they will be appearing in later in the year,, their shows radiate connection and joy. Winners of the Robinson Emerging Artist Showcase at Canada’s Goderich Celtic Roots Festival, they’re fast becoming one of the scene’s most talked-about acts.
Their latest album turns tradition sideways – storytelling with soul, and grooves that smoulder, spark, and occasionally catch fire. See full review.

Arthur Coates & Kerran Cotterell
Arthur Coates & Kerran Cotterell are a two-man trad tornado tearing through the folk world with foot percussion, fiddle, guitar, vocals, and groove to spare. Kitted out with grooving basslines, tight harmonies, and offbeat charm, they’re just a couple of lads with a tangle of strings – yet they somehow summon the sound and swagger of a much bigger band.
Their music blends original compositions with tunes and songs they’ve found in the wild, delivered with harmonies, tall tales, and a streak of serious silliness. Their shows mix clickety clacks, plucks and strums, with easy repartee and sharp turns – every piece crafted to keep toes tapping, faces smiling, and the whole room leaning in. It’s groove, grit, and guaranteed good times.
Forglen Hall, Sunday 10 May 2026 @ 7:00 pm

The duo sing, play and banter their way through a show which features a host of traditional tunes from the much-loved Scottish songbook, as well as some songs gathered from the oral tradition and a few original compositions
Tickets per show are £12 or £9 for under 18 and students
