Storm Eowyn warning and useful information from Aberdeenshire Council
You will no doubt be aware of Storm Eowyn due to arrive in the UK tomorrow. As with all storms, there will be useful information posted across social media sites but this is to give you the latest picture and who to get in touch with if you experience issues in Banff and Buchan.
You may have seen the media reporting regarding the RED weather warning for high winds issued by Met Office earlier today relating to Storm Eowyn for Friday. Currently the focused geographic area of the RED warning is across central and southern areas of Scotland, and not extending into our area.
Our area remains subject of an AMBER and wider YELLOW warning for high winds on Friday extending into Saturday and given the nature of the risk there is chance of peak gusts and impacts extending across wider geographic areas. The warning regarding snow across our area has been updated in terms of time period and is now effective from 06:00 to 23:59 on Friday.

There will also be the chance of wind-blown debris and the potential for fallen trees on our roads and across the region so again please take care if you’re venturing out. To report fallen trees on the roads network call on 03456 081205 (during office hours). Out of hours please call Police Scotland on 101.
Power cuts are likely to occur during this storm and people cope better when they have prepared in advance, so please consider gathering torches and batteries, a mobile phone power pack and other essential items.
